1. *Safety Induction:*
- Before engaging employees
on work Safety induction will be
imparted
to all the employees. While
attending the safety induction,
employees
should come with minimum
personal protective equipments
applicable on this
site i.e. Safety shoes, Safety
Helmet, Safety Goggles. Stamp
size Photo
copy should also be available
to paste on the Safety induction
card which
will be issued to them at the
end of Safety induction
programme.
- Gate pass will be issued only
after Safety Induction.
1. All *excavations* more than
*0.6 mtr* shall be barricaded by
steel
pipes of minimum dia. 40 NB. It
should withstand a lateral load
of 100 kg.
The barriers should have two
horizontal members located at
1010 mm and 550
mm from ground and vertical
members located at spacing not
more than 1000
mm.
- Excavations less than 600
mm shall be cordoned off and
suitable
notice/warning tapes posted.
- Sufficient quantity of steel
pipes to be made available for
hard
barricading.
1. *Vehicles:*
- All vehicles should have
Horne, Reverse horn, Brake light,
- Muffler / spark arrester
needed before entering on site
- Registration number,
Pollution under control (PUC)
certificate and
Insurance papers should
always be with vehicle.
1. *Safety requirements of
Lifting Machines, tools and
tackles: *
- Test certification issued by
competent person,
- SWL prominently marked on
all lifting machines, tools and
tackles.
- Testing date and due date
for testing must be marked
prominently on
cranes, chain pulley blocks,
Hoist etc.
- Wire ropes slings should be
with *double ferule.*
- Use of ‘U’ clamps and
splicing of wire rope is not
allowed.
- Red or Orange color jacket
to the signal man.
1. *Crawling cranes/Telescopic
Crane *should have: swing
horns, limit
switch, hook latch, load
indicator, load chart etc.

1. *Electrical Installations: *
- *RCCB / ELCB of 30mA
tripping current* is must in
Electrical Panel
and field distribution Boards.
- Two separate earthing pits
for each panel separated by a
distance of
3 Mt. should be provided.
Before energizing electric panel
Resistance test
and Meger test is to be
carried out from competent
person
- Weather proof shed with
door needs to be provided to
electric
panels. The shed should
sustain to the heavy wind at the
site location.
- Tested rubber mat should
be provided in front of electric
panel.
- Field distribution boards
should be mounted on channel
structure
and protected from the top
by GI sheet for rain. Re-bars are
not accepted
in the frame structure by IOCL
- There should not be any
joint to the electrical cables. If
the
joint is unavoidable due to
circumstances then *standard
cable
connector* should be used.
- Electrical cables should run
either 0.7 Mt. below ground or 2
Mt.
above ground. Taking
electrical supply cables on the
ground is prohibited.
For above ground cables,
sufficient number of hangers
should be made
available.
- Fire extinguishers and sand
buckets should be properly
installed at
work panel room.
1. *All power tools such as
drilling machine, Hand Grinder
etc must be
double insulated.*
1. *Welding:*
- Welding machines / Rectifiers
should be checked and certified
by the
electrical engineer before
taking into use.
- Electrical supply to the
welding machine should be
protected by ELCB
/ RCCB.
- The length of electric supply
cable to the welding set shall not
exceed 5 meters.
- Welding machines to be
kept in weather proof shed only.
Shed should
sustain to heavy wind at site
location.
- Body of the welding
machine should be connected to
earthing pit.
- Fire extinguishers and sand/
water buckets should be
properly
installed at work place
1. *Gas cutting:*
- Trolley should be provided to
gas cutting cylinders and
cylinders
properly secured by chain.
- Standard Flash Back
Arresters are must at Torch end
& Cylinders
- For the purpose of the
storage of cylinders proper shed
which will
sustain to heavy wind at site
location should be provided.
- Full cylinders and empty
cylinders should be stored
separately and
tied with chain.
- Valve protection caps over
the cylinder must be provided.
- LPG cylinders are not
allowed in place of Dissolved
Acetylene
- Fire extinguishers and sand/
water buckets should be
properly
installed at work place
1. *Scaffolding and Height
work: *
- Sound scaffold (Preferably
cup lock type) is needed
- Scaffolds to be erected and
dismantled by trained persons
only
- Scaffolder to certify scaffolds
before taking in to use. Tagging
system to be followed for use
of scaffolding.
- Sufficient number of planks
(Jalli) should be available to form
fully covered work platform
of scaffold.
- Only standard aluminum
ladders to be used for height
work. *Rope
ladders are not allowed *
- Full body harness with
double lanyard and snap hook is
required for
working at height.
- Fall arrester is must for
working at height
- Depending on work
situation Safety net will be
needed.
- Man Basket, tested by third
party competent person should
be
available to use as and when
required.
1. Personal Protective
Equipments: All personal
protective equipments
should comply with respective
IS standards listed below.
- Minimum PPE required on
this site are: Safety Helmet, Safety
Shoe,
and Safety Goggles.
- Other special PPE are as per
the requirements of activity
being
performed.
1. All equipments, machineries,
tools and tackles brought on the
site
must be inspected before using
on the site and then after
inspected
periodically.
1. Refilling date of fire
extinguishers and due date of
refilling must
be available on every fire
extinguisher.
